Our exceptional Ofsted inspection in June 2011 has marked an important turning point in our journey, moving our school from being inadequate to one which is effective and rapidly improving. 79% of lessons were judged to be Good or better with no teaching being classified as lower than ‘strong’ Satisfactory. Quite simply, this is a remarkable achievement. We received Good judgements in the following areas; pupils being safe, behaviour, the quality of teaching, assessment for learning, leadership and management, partnerships, safeguarding and capacity for sustained improvement. We also received an Outstanding judgement for the quality of leadership of teaching and learning. We were described in many areas of our work as being ‘exemplary’ and a ‘model of good practice’. Unquestionably, and this was certainly the view of the Ofsted team, if we continue to operate as we are doing then we will create a truly remarkable school over the course of the next three years.
