House System
All students at The Farnley Academy are part of one of the school’s four houses: Tomlinson, Bronte, Moore and Asquith. Students can be identified by the colour of their school ties as well as their student planners. The purpose of the House System is to promote a sense of community and competition within our school. All students are expected to support their peers and team activities are encouraged to gain important House points, with the overall winning House being crowned champions at our annual Prize Giving Evening. House events take place across a wide range of curriculum areas including art, sport, drama, science and technology.
Each House is led by a member of the Senior Leadership team who is responsible for leading his or her students to success in a wide range of House competitions. Heads of Houses also deliver assemblies to inform, motivate and celebrate achievement. They are supported by House captains who are elected each year.
