Advice for Parents & Carers
Supporting and advising parents and carers is as crucial as supporting and advising students. The Farnley Academy offers a full program of engage events with Post 16 parents and carers. This includes an induction for Parents and Carers held at the start of the academic year including; ‘Memory and Revision Skills’ by Miss Howell, ‘Time Planning’ by Mrs Makin and ‘An introduction to University’ by The University of Huddersfield. This programme also includes ‘a parents guide to applying to University’ and ‘Financial planning for university’ these events take place later in the year and are run by Leeds Metropolitan University. The Post 16 Parents Evening gives all parents and carers an opportunity to discuss their son or daughters progress with all post 16 teachers as well as the head of post 16. It is vital that students can access support both at school and at home as we expect students to make effective use of their home study time. A booklet has been designed to guide you through techniques in supporting students on each of their courses.
