Our Year 10 Geographers recently completed their Physical Fieldwork Enquiry during visits on Friday 10th and Monday 13th July. Despite the very warm weather on Friday, students represented the school brilliantly with exemplary behaviour throughout both trips.
During their visit to Hornsea, students used a range of fieldwork techniques, including groyne analysis and field sketches, to investigate the enquiry question: How effective is hard engineering at protecting the coastline at Hornsea? They gathered first-hand data that will form the basis of their work when we return in September.
Back in the classroom, students will analyse their findings, draw conclusions and evaluate the effectiveness of their investigation. This is an essential part of their GCSE Geography course and will prepare them for the fieldwork questions in Paper 3, where they are examined on their own enquiry.
We will also be completing our Human Fieldwork Enquiry in October. Further details and consent letters will be sent home after the summer break.
Well done to all of our Year 10 geographers for their enthusiasm, resilience and excellent conduct throughout both fieldwork days.
