World Book Day at The Farnley Academy was another year of sartorial elegance and daring. A number of staff came dressed as characters from books and there were two competitions for students to enter promoted by Miss Stacey in the library.
The maths department were the stars of the day with Cruella de Vil (Miss Pickering) rounding up a number of dalmations (the rest of the department) from Dodie Smith’s novel 101 Dalmations.
Our wonderful support staff dressed as characters from the Michael Crichton novel, Jurassic Park.
The English department drew inspiration from a range of novels, plays and poems. Romeo and Juliet characters were aplenty and Miss Langdon looked every inch the Mad Hatter from Lewis Carol’s Alice in Wonderland. Mr Revell spent the whole day covered in chocolate as Bruce Bogtrotter from Roald Dahl’s Matilda.
