On Thursday 5th March, TFA celebrated one of the largest charities of its kind; World Book Day.
World Book Day is a day in which aims to ensure all children have a book of their own. With over 100 countries worldwide taking part, we wanted to ensure we were just as involved in the fun.
Throughout the whole of last week, there were multiple activities taking place across the school for students to get involved. There were character hunts, book binding activities, writing competitions and all students received a voucher to pick a World Book day book of their own!
On the day itself, for the first time ever, we allowed our students to take part and dress up. The best dressed won an iPad with second and third place winning books of their choice. Alfie took home the iPad for his outstanding commitment of dressing as an Oompa Loompa! Callum and Billy came second and third for their versions of The Artful Dodger and Captain Underpants.
Staff took part in the fun too with team English collectively dressing as the characters from ‘Blood Brothers’ and team maths collectively represented characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Overall it was a fantastic celebration of reading – something which is integral for the development of students here at The Farnley Academy.
