In September we welcomed 17 new colleagues to The Farnley Academy as newly qualified teachers. They have made a fantastic start to their careers here and we are very excited to see the impact that these colleagues will have on our students’ progress.
Many NQTs completed their teacher training with The Gorse SCITT, a teacher training programme that places trainee teachers in The Gorse Academies Trust schools. This is testament to our academies in that colleagues want to remain teaching within our outstanding organisation.
New colleagues to the profession are given high quality support through mentors and a focussed programme of continued professional development. So far this year NQTs have received an inspiring speech from leaders across the Trust as well as training on lesson routines, memory for learning, The Knowledge and highly effective assessment for learning strategies.
Nicola Harney, Science NQT said “Following the training session I will implement the temperature check questions in my lessons and adjust purple zone tasks based on my assessments. A really useful session.”
We’re excited to see our new colleagues embrace the teaching profession and make a difference to our students’ lives.
