Assemblies at The Farnley Academy this week have been all about student leadership, and who better to lead them than the student leaders themselves! The focus of the assemblies has been to raise the profile of the full student leadership team, beyond just the Head Boy and Head Girl, and showcase the impact that this group of young people have had on school life already this year.
The student leadership team have put forward useful ideas in meetings with Mr. Stokes that have been acted upon. For example, student leaders put forward a proposal to increase the number of seats in the restaurant area and allow more time to travel from room to room during lesson changeover. The student body are benefitting from these positive changes to school life. The team have also had meetings with all of the senior leaders in school to discuss their key areas of responsibility and how they can assist with these, as well as raising money for Children in Need and working with Leeds City Council. They have certainly been busy!
It was wonderful to hear the examples of ambition, resilience and kindness that our student leaders shared with each year group to inspire other students to consider how they embody the academies core values. All of the students who spoke during the assemblies did so with confidence and clarity. We are incredibly proud of them all for the excellent delivery of their assemblies and look forward to more student leadership assemblies later in the year.
