Year 11 – Final Few Weeks

Monday 5th March saw our final Year 11 Parent Consultation Evening. The evening was centered around our students receiving their mock examination grades and identifying how to make final improvements as they strive to secure their highest grades possible.

The evening was a great success with the majority of students improving on their previous performance in November; I spoke with many parents and students who were extremely pleased and were excited about the next step in their education as they prepare for Post-16.

Year 11 have many opportunities open to them currently including bespoke after school revision sessions, 1-1 tutoring available, form time input from specialists in the core and revision during holidays if they wish to attend. Whilst the examinations they face are challenging, we all feel very confident that they will perform really well in the summer exam series and have that all-important “gift of choice” on results day.

Students should now be in an established revision routine. To be successful and avoid anxiety around examinations we would recommend that students revise for approximately 1 hour a day at this stage. This hour should be split between 3 20 minutes or 2 30 minutes sessions learning key facts, practicing model answers or ensuring they are clear on the structure of successful answers.
