At some point during 2017 I made the decision to change my career and my life.  I was the Director of a nationally successful retail company but felt unfulfilled and I wanted to give something back.  During this time of change I chose to investigate the possibility of becoming a secondary school teacher.  As they say, the rest is history, quite literally!

I am now a trainee History teacher and have travelled a challenging and life-changing journey since beginning the course in September 2018.  I am training with The GORSE SCITT at a World Class school, as a History teacher. I never thought I would have the confidence to stand in front of 30 fifteen-year-olds but the young people I have encountered and supported are so passionate about challenging themselves to improve their future prospects that it has inspired me.

I would encourage anyone that is searching for something new to take that huge leap of faith and, most of all, allow themselves to apply new found confidence and knowledge to future challenges.

If you would like to emulate Robert and join the challenging, rewarding and vital profession of teaching, apply to GORSE SCITT to train on our Ofsted rated Outstanding programme. We now have 200 primary and secondary trainees enrolled, with 25 thriving trainee colleagues in all subject areas at The Farnley Academy some of whom are pictured below.
