Whilst things were most certainly different this year, at The Farnley Academy, we still celebrated everything literary for World Book Day!
Throughout the week, students engaged with lots of World Book Day activities within form time; this included listening to author podcasts and completing quizzes. We wanted to ensure that students still had the opportunity to understand the importance of reading and were able to celebrate this magical day.
On Thursday 5th March, all lessons contained an activity that linked to World Book Day. Our year 7 students had an additional treat of listening to famous author Robin Stevens discuss her inspiration for writing. In addition to this, we hosted our fancy dress competition and invited students to dress as their favourite character. We were overwhelmed by the entries; students working within school and from home ensured they went above and beyond to show who their favourite character was. All students who dressed up will receive 20 credits and a sweet treat to celebrate their efforts.
Finally, students returning to school will all receive a token to claim their free World Book Day book. We will be ensuring all students in year 7 and 8 receive their copy! In addition to this, some lucky year 7 students will receive their own copy of one of Robin Steven’s popular novels.
We are exceptionally proud of all of our students. Check out some of the entries below!
