This has been a busy half term for DofE!
Our usual September launch to year 9 was unfortunately delayed this year, but we are very excited to have been able to enrol 50 year 9 students for their Bronze Awards since Easter!
Before the Easter holidays, letters were sent home with all year 9 pupils encouraging them to think about enrolling for the Award and to start to plan the activities they would like to do. We provided them with lots of information and ideas about how this could be done despite Covid restrictions.
We worked with students who returned activity plans on an individual basis to ensure that their proposed activities were acceptable, and have since held after-school sessions to get those who chose to enrol up and running with their online eDofE accounts.
This group of 50 pupils is now busy progressing their skill, physical and volunteering sections. We have lots of brilliant activities going on which will really benefit our local community. For example, litter picking, helping make up food parcels, helping elderly neighbours with their shopping, and many more! Our students will be busy improving their skills in cooking, languages, art and music to name a few, and will be working on their fitness at the gym, pool, local football pitch or dance studio. It has been lovely to read all of their plans and we look forward to seeing them improve over the next 3-6 months.
Once complete, and subject to government guidelines, we hope to be able to arrange an expedition for them in the future.
