This year, we’re extremely excited to welcome three Teach First colleagues into the academy.
Teach First is a charity working to build a fair education for all, by developing great teachers and brilliant leaders who ensure that all schools can thrive. Teach First colleagues engage in intensive training over the summer period before starting their teaching career in their placement school. The three Teach First colleagues we are delighted to welcome to The Farnley Academy are:
Heather Foster – Teacher of English
Richard Jones – Teacher of English
Philippa McDowall – Teacher of Maths
Having settled into the The Farnley Academy over the past few weeks, they had the following things to say about the exciting start to their teaching journey.
Heather: “I have really enjoyed settling in and learning the school’s ethos. I am passionate about teaching and think The Farnley Academy has provided an excellent starting point for me in my career. The students here are wonderful and I am excited to learn and develop more!”
The Teach First colleagues will work closely with us as an academy, alongside Sheffield Hallam University to learn fundamental pedagogy that will ensure their success, and ultimately, the success of our students.
