On Wednesday 26 January our Y11 History students had the incredible opportunity to hear from Eva Clarke BEM, who is a survivor of the Holocaust. Our students took part in a webcast which was organised by the Holocaust Educational Trust, in preparation for Holocaust Memorial Day.
Eva’s story is remarkable as she was actually born in Mauthausen concentration camp, Austria, on 29th April 1945. She and her mother are the only survivors of their family, 15 members of whom were sadly killed in Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Our Y11 students were extremely respectful throughout and it was clear that they valued this unique opportunity to hear testimony from someone who had lived through this experience.
