On Friday 30th September, our fantastic Geography team took our year 11 cohort out to explore some Geography field work to the centre of Leeds.
The Geographers were out exploring development as part of their understanding of the Curriculum. All students studying Geography in year 11 were able to go on the trip – we took half of the cohort out in the morning and half the afternoon.
The trip allowed students to explore parts of the city that had undergone development and how this had positively impacted the area. Students worked in booklets analysing what they could physically see and how this related to both human and physical geography. It was a fantastic experience and enabled a deeper understanding of the curriculum, particularly in relation to case studies.
Miss Dolby & Miss Fowler, Curriculum Leader and Assistant Curriculum Leader both taught students as the day developed; students commented on the excellent opportunity to be able to see in real life the topics that are explored in person.
In addition to this, our year 11s handled the rain fantastically – a bit of water did not stop them collating the important data set!
