The inclusion team at TFA play a pivotal role in offering support and guidance to any students that may require it. We are very fortunate to have a large highly experienced team whose sole purpose is to safeguard the students and offer targeted support where necessary. Their underpinning work includes closely assisting students that have diagnosed mental health conditions, are suffering school-based anxiety, or just need some overall general well-being support. Each year group has an assigned Inclusion and Safeguarding officer, who is trained to deal with concerns at source and offer guidance and advice to those individuals who need it the most.
Where appropriate, students can be added to their individual mentoring caseload, where they benefit from regular check ins and the opportunity to access our drop in haven. We also offer in school counselling to our students and families through Place2Be and the Trust counselling service. Sessions can be delivered through a formal session or through the ever-popular drop-in counselling service Place2Talk, which is open to all pupils, and allows them to make an appointment to spend 15 minutes with a trained counsellor, either by themselves or with a friend.
Students have recently attended an assembly which outlined all of the inclusion support available at TFA and Gareth Cleasby the Senior Assistant Principal with responsibility for Inclusion spoke about how students could best support themselves and others. We have a culture of tolerance and honesty at TFA when it comes to Mental Health, and we actively encourage our students to access the fantastic support on offer should they need it.
