Our Student Leaders recently had one of their regular meetings with Mr Little to work on initiatives and to give feedback about how they think the school could be improved. During the meeting we discussed several items:
- The Student Leaders have been working on information to disseminate to students about mental health support. The Heads of School finished the work with Mr Ross and we put information in Form Tutor notices for all year groups about the support that is on offer, both in school and externally, and how to access the support. As a school, we feel really strongly about supporting this and want to help students access support when they need it.
- The Student Leaders expressed their desire to volunteer and help primary school children with their reading. Mr Ross has contacted Lawns Park Primary School and Ryecroft Academy to see if they would like our help. We are always looking to develop our transition links, so if you are a local Primary School, please let us know how we can support you further.
- The students mentioned that they would like somewhere to hang their coats when they visit the toilets. Mr Little explained that they are already looking into this and that he will continue to work with Mr Ross and the site team to look for the best and safest solutions.
- Student leaders mentioned that they would like more benches to sit on outside and Mr Little said he would be happy to look into that for them and is discussing with the site team, on where would be best to add some extra seating to our outside area.
- Mr Ross and Mr Harding are currently looking into a rewards trip for the student leaders due to the excellent work they have undertaken in supporting school events such as open evenings, parents’ evenings and school tours for new TFA staff.
From a school perspective, we would like to thank the Student Leadership Team for their hard work, effort and dedication to be a kind and caring set of students, who are looking to use mature and clearly outlined plans to enhance our school experience.
