TFA had a successful trip to Ruth Gorse to take part in the Secondary schools Gorse Games, picking up four top 3 finishes in the individual races, with Jamie picking up the gold medal in the Y9 race along with Ryan picking up a Bronze. This meant TFA finished 1st in the year 9 competition. TFA had two more medallists in the year 7 races with Jess finishing 3rd in the girls race and Joe also coming thirds in the boy’s race. The highlight of the night was the team relay, where six students rowed for one minute each, TFA managed to come back from 3rd position and 50 metres behind the lead boat in the final minute of the race to overtake the two other teams and finish with the Gold medal. Excitingly the brand-new Boat House is nearly ready to be opened so hopefully next year this event will be able to take place on the water, all free of charge to the students! It would be great to see as many students as possible joining our after-school Rowing Clubs in preparation for being out on the water. Year 8-11 Rowing is on a Thursday after school 3-4pm and Y7 is on a Friday after school 3-4pm, both are with the GORSE Academies Rowing coaches.
