Upon our return from the Easter holidays, Y11 students had an unforgettable experience as they were visited by Tomi Komoly. Tomi shared his profound story with our young people and answered numerous questions at the end of the session. Tomi was born in Budapest in 1936. His father was conscripted and forced into labour and was sadly killed in 1944. Tomi and his mother survived in Swedish protected houses and were eventually liberated prior to the end of the Second World War. One of Tomi’s most poignant messages for our young people was not to be a bystander and to always try to show courage and kindness towards those who need it most. The event was organised through work with the Holocaust Educational Trust, as part of their Outreach Programme and we hope to organise similar events in the near future.
Mr Vickers would like to thank all pupils involved in the event, who were a genuine credit to TFA. Tomi commented on the impeccable behaviour of the students and even had a group of pupils who stayed after the event to ask additional questions!
