We are delighted to share with you the success of our Year 7 and 8 Sport and Wellbeing Evening held last week. The event was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the importance of living a healthy and active lifestyle and to showcase the many ways students can get involved in sport at our school.

The evening began with an engaging talk from Mr Whitehead, who spoke about how students can build healthy routines and make the most of the wide range of extracurricular activities available. He also highlighted the exciting opportunities our students have to participate in our “Big Three” clubs: Volleyball, Rowing and Karate. Especially the opportunity to train on the new Beach Volleyball Court opening at The Farnley Academy in the coming weeks and the brand-new Boathouse and Lemonroyd Marina.

Following the talk, parents and students headed to the Sports Hall, where they enjoyed a variety of activities including climbing, volleyball, badminton, table tennis and basketball. The atmosphere was brilliant, with both parents and children taking part enthusiastically and enjoying themselves. Parents also had the chance to meet with PE staff to find out more about the curriculum and the extra-curricular sporting opportunities on offer.

It has already been a busy and successful start to the year in PE. In just the past three weeks, our students have taken part in over 20 competitive fixtures, including football, rugby and netball, demonstrating the breadth of sporting experiences available.

We remain committed to providing as many opportunities as possible across all sports, but ultimately it is down to our students to seize these opportunities and make the most of the extracurricular clubs and teams on offer.

If your child would like to take part in any club, please see the timetable below. Students should meet on the quad at 3:00pm to attend.
