This year the GGH reps have been split up into 3 groups, each group will have a separate area of focus for the year. The area of focus has been decided upon from research with students about what they would like to see the school improve in terms of health. Last year saw the GGH reps focus on creating personalised invites to sports clubs, hosting a healthy food taster day that was a huge hit with students, introducing a freshers fair for Y7 students to try out different sports clubs and the introduction of a walking bubble which is used to encourage students to walk to school and show how long it should take them to do so.

This group are responsible for creating new and improved invites to sports clubs. This years will feature links to sporting equipment, YouTube links for how to practise and improve skills in the sport and links to local sports clubs. An example of which can be found here. The purpose of these invites is to encourage students to be more physically active through either joining a sports club outside of school or completing the skills on the YouTube videos themselves.

This group will be focusing on active travel again and maintaining the work that was done last year to sustain the number of students who actively travel to school. In recent years we have had the bike ability programme which encouraged students to cycle to school, because of this our bike racks are now full, and we are applying for funding so we can have more storage for bikes. Last year we had a form competition to see how many students in each form could actively travel to school each day during a week. The form with the highest percentage of students actively travelling won a food based prize and the overall best form in the school got an extra prize of attending the 100% club games lounge.
Extra-Curricular

This group will be focusing on increasing the number of female students who attend extra curricular sports clubs. From the research we conducted we found that there was a lot less females who attend extra curricular sports clubs, we are going to find out the reasons why this is and look to find some solutions so that we see more females coming to extra curricular sports clubs. This could be introducing new clubs, having some female only clubs, changing the days that clubs run, amending the clothes that can be worn to extra curricular club
