The 9th to the 15th April saw the Scholastic Book fair arrive at The Farnley Academy Library. Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Tom Gates were snapped up very quickly!  We also had students buying books on geology, space and books that tied in to their favourite games, such as Five Nights at Freddy’s and Assassin’s Creed.

A superhero competition ran throughout the week where students had to create their own superhero to win a £5 book voucher and be entered into a national competition for a Nintendo Switch.  The five who won our vouchers were:  Rohail Mahmood, Amelia Stewart, Rachel Kaye, Ryan Black and Ethan Smith.
It was a delight to see students from Y11 to Y7 browsing together, and also watching our older students recommending books to the younger ones.
Due to the huge number of books sold Scholastic gave us a book voucher worth £230 to spend on new stock for the library.
A huge thank you to Mrs Lister, Miss Stacey and Miss Wilkins for running the book fair.
