However, all four Houses are very close together and positions could soon change with the range of House competitions we have coming up. Our students will see an increase in both competitions and pop ups across the academy, creating endless opportunities for students to drive their House to victory. We start this term with a World Earth Day pop-up where students can win both tokens and prizes alongside raising awareness of protecting the environment. Throughout this term we are also running a series of Black Lives Matter competitions, further promoting the importance of this movement. Students will be given the opportunity to create a piece of art inspired by the BLM movement, write a poem and consider the progression of the movement over time.

As part of our extracurricular relaunch, we are running a House Football and Netball competition for Year 7 & 8. This will run after school on the 4th May (Year 7) and 5th May (Year 8). This competition will promote friendly competitive spirit and again give students an opportunity to represent their House doing something they love. A House cooking competition is also taking place w/c 17th May and we welcome the return of Farnley’s got Talent which will run on the last week of term. For this event, students can enter individually or as a group, however they feel they can best showcase their talent.

As we move towards the end of the year, we want to continue rewarding our students for their hard work and dedication to their House. The House to reach the next prize line first will be eligible to attend an in-school pizza party. Further to this, the winning House at the end of the academic year will win a spectacular prize which will be revealed during this term, so keep your eyes peeled! We will also be crowning our individual House champions. These are the students who in each House have entered the most competitions throughout the year, recognising both their success and commitment.

The students at Farnley have got lots of exciting opportunities and rewards to look forward to over the coming term. Let’s see which House will end up on top!
