Farnley’s Year 7 and 8 House Captains and Deputies joined other schools across Leeds at Pudsey’s Civic Hall to learn about the background to knife crime, including information such as why people resort to carrying a knife.

The students heard shocking stories from those who have had their lives directly affected by knife crime, either as the perpetrator or the victim before learning how to give medical assistance to someone who has been a victim of knife crime.

West Yorkshire Police were on hand to educate us about legal matters surrounding knife crime and as a group we devised ideas to help the council raise awareness about the dangers of carrying a knife. It was a thought-provoking and education day for all.
