On Thursday 19th July the Student Leadership Team visited London for the day with Miss Langley as a token of our appreciation for both their time and dedication in their role. Throughout the year they have demonstrated great maturity and pride when discussing, representing and promoting the Academy in a variety of situations, including supporting with recruitment.
The team visited The Houses of Parliament and students got to visit both chambers and saw a Bill being passed from the House of Lords to the House of Commons. After the exciting tour and witnessing the members of Parliament debate in real life, the students then took part in a workshop looking at how the UK Parliament makes laws and the importance of debating in the legislation process. The whole experience was designed to help prepare them for their applications and potential role on the Student Leadership Team next academic year.
After lunch at Giraffe Restaurant the students took in the sites of the Southbank and watched street performers. They then walked from Trafalgar Square to Buckingham Palace and after a restful break in Green Park students went to Piccadilly Circus before heading back to Kings Cross Station for the journey home. After walking more than 11 miles taking in the sights and a once in a lifetime opportunity visiting Parliament the students are excited to apply to be part of the Student Leadership next year!
