We have been fortunate this year to have been joined by some fantastic Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) who have brought energy, passion and excitement to many of our classrooms and lessons. Through the dedicated support and guidance of their mentors, each of our NQTs is soon to complete their NQT year. Many of them will return to The Farnley Academy in September as RQTs (Recently Qualified Teachers).

When discussing the benefits of being part of the GORSE Academies Trust, Mr Williams (Teacher of Music and Maths) commented ‘the collaboration and ability to play to everyone’s strengths has been at the forefront of my success. In addition, I have also learnt to plan my time in a way I never thought possible. I have never been the sort of person who would plan everything rigidly but without my marking plan and carefully planned tick list of jobs, it would have been a real struggle!’

Miss Richardson joined Mr Williams in the Music department this year; a subject area that has enjoyed significant investment in classrooms and equipment in the last year. Miss Richardson and Mr Williams were both hugely influential in the breathtaking performance of High School Musical earlier this year. This was on top of their classroom teaching, marking and pastoral care of students. Together they agreed that ‘it was an absolute highlight and its success was all that more enjoyable as it was great to see all our hard work on evenings, weekends and holidays pay off. The students involved shared an experience with their peers that will stay with them for the rest of their lives!’

We are very proud of all of our NQTs and wish them the very best as they approach their RQT years… after the much-deserved summer break!
