The Behaviour Team model and enforce the behaviour standards that we wish to see across the academy. The teams’ aim is to ensure that positive self-regulated behaviour is evident across the entire academy and its surrounding area. This year, the Behaviour team comprises 1 member of SLT, 5 Heads of Year, 1 Behaviour Leader, 4 Behaviour Managers, 2 Behaviour Improvement Officers and 2 On Call Managers.

The Head of Year is responsible for ensuring that children in their year group are making excellent academic progress, behaving in line with academy expectations, and working with teams within school to facilitate the support that they need to succeed.

The Behaviour Leader role is to ensure PD is implemented appropriately when handling incidents of poor behaviour. The Behaviour Leader, under the direct supervision of the Assistant Principal for behaviour ensures that standards are at the highest levels at all times within the academy through careful coordination of the wider behaviour team.

The Behaviour Manager role is the key day to day manager for the year group, ensuring PD is understood, followed, and implemented in their year group. Each Behaviour Manager is the primary point?of contact with parents / carers and is expected to have strong relationships with all parents / carers to continue to support and provide superb pastoral care for each student in their year group. Each Behaviour Manager will communicate and deliver rewards and praise to students, alongside implementing negative sanctions in line with the PD policy. Behaviour Managers monitor and?challenge behaviour of?students within the Year Group, who are not meeting the academy’s expectations and standards.

The Behaviour Improvement officer role which is new to the Academy this year is to work with Tier 3, 4 and 5 students and to deliver the Behaviour Support Matrix programme to encourage students to acknowledge, learn and develop their behaviour through a variety of wave strategies.

The primary purpose of the On Call Manager to respond to ‘on call’ requests, made by teaching and non-teaching staff across the academy. The On Call Manager is available throughout the day to support all students and staff when required. This ensures that all professionals within the academy are supported in their role and student’s receive immediate support, supervision and intervention when required.

With such a vast team, The Farnley Academy promotes self regulation, making sure students are prepared for the wider world. We support all students in the academy guaranteeing they feel safe and supported at all times.
