We are in a very fortunate position to have high quality counselling services available 5 days a week, the students have access to either Place2Be or the Trust Counselling service. The counselling service at TFA provides a safe and confidential space for students to talk to a trained professional about any issues and concerns that they may have. The counsellor will help students to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviours so they develop a better understanding of themselves and of others. The highly trained counsellors listen to the students without judgment and help them to explore their thoughts and emotions.

Place2Be offers two types of services, Place2Talk and Place2Be.

Place2Talk is a service that allows students the opportunity to book an appointment to talk about their problems and worries. Place2Be is our one-to-one counselling service where students have weekly scheduled counselling over a longer period. During these sessions they talk through any worries or concerns and receive tailor made support regarding their concerns. They also offer family specific support through the family practitioner service, where they offer advice and support as required for parents and carers.

Students are supported in the academy by our highly experienced inclusion team in the initial instance. When it becomes apparent that more intensive support is needed referrals are made to the counselling services. This is always done in conjunction with the parents/ carers and the student. There have been many positive success stories of students who have accessed our in-school counselling service.
