The theme of this year’s annual Leeds Peace Poetry Competition was “Food Inequality”. The Farnley Academy really stepped up to the challenge this year and were commended with a prize for the quality and quantity of submissions. In addition, Chloe Wade from our Year 7 cohort achieved an impressive third prize in the Junior category, competing against other school entrants from the Leeds area. Helena Verity in Yr11 also won both Second and Third place in the secondary category for the two brilliant poems she entered. Students attended a special prize ceremony at Leeds University on Tuesday November 27th judged by local and nationally recognised poet Simon Armitage.
