RowUK have partnered up with The Gorse Academies Trust to implement indoor and on water rowing as part of the curriculum. We are incredibly excited to be the only Trust in the country who are working with RowUK in this way to design the rowing curriculum and develop rowing teams across the Trust.
This week Ben Cox from RowUK delivered assemblies to Years 7, 8 and 9 to promote the opportunities on offer. Indoor rowing competitions will be running in PE lessons and extracurricular clubs to see who can row the most meters. Certificates will be awarded to students who reach milestone distances. The Farnley indoor rowing club has already been launched and runs every Thursday 2:50 – 3:50pm with Mr. Harding. Competitions for students who attend this club will run throughout the year such as the British Indoor Rowing Championships and RowLeeds Indoor Championships.
There are so many exciting opportunities on offer for our students who are interested in rowing. I look forward to seeing our students’ success and maybe even some future Olympians!
