Firstly, I would like to welcome all of our students back from the summer holidays, I hope you all had a great break. It has been a busy first two weeks at The Farnley Academy, with a lot of information as we enter the new academic year.
One of the elements of our school that I feel immensley proud of is our dedication and vaired offer of extra-curricular activities. At this school, we provide many activities that provide something for everyone. This is the reason why we often refer to it as Enrichment++, a term that means we go the extra mile to provide exciting opportunities that many of us did not have access to when we were at school.
We feel it is extremely important that we launch extra-curricular activities quickly as we start a new school year, and it has been extremely pleasing to see so many clubs on show this week. At the time of writing this, I am pleased to say that we offer 32 enrichment opportunities for just Y7. A snapshot of this is below:
There are also a plethora of activities available for all years too, which are available on our website page. Please see this for more information regarding what clubs are on each night.
Regarding the safeguarding element of this, when your child goes to a club they should register with a member of staff, this means that they can input their barcode number which will send you an automated text, informing you of their whereabouts. We hope that this is an action that supports their welfare and helps communication links between ourselves and our parents and carers.
Before I wrote this article, I spent a short period of time walking around the PE department, where I witnessed so many children enjoying volleyball and rowing on a Friday afternoon. This is excellent, and I applaud the students and staff members for doing that little bit extra.
I wish you all the best and simply ask for one request, to encourage your child to attend as many extracurricular activities as possible.
Kind regards
Mr Harding
Assistant Principal
