Student Leadership

The Student Leadership Team have been very busy this past term. They have all been working very hard and they play an active role with overseeing the Academy.
Since September Student Leaders have had fortnightly meetings with Miss Ramsell, in which there has been different items on the agenda depending on what was happening in the Academy.

We launched our brand-new student suggestions box, which The Heads of Schools helped design. This is located at Student Reception which allows students to write their ideas and suggestions down and post them. The Student Leadership Team read through them in meetings and report back to The Senior Leadership Team and Mr Stokes in termly meetings.

Some suggestions that they have decided to act on so far is; the ordering of a mannequin so students can have a real-life representation of the uniform requirements and raising the profile of mental health support within boys particularly. One of our Heads of School, Harrison, has been working closely with members of SLT in order to create engaging, inspirational and emotive posters to emphasise the importance of kindness.

We have also launched our new Kindness Committee over the past term! Students who are part of our Kindness Committee are also members of The Student Leadership Team with a specific focus of spreading kindness and sharing the importance of being kind around the Academy. Kindness is one of our core values at The Farnley Academy and we believe our new Kindness Committee will be at the heart of this core value and be true advocates for ensuring kindness is emphasised all year round.
