Mr Stokes (Principal) recently met with Chloe in Year 9 to congratulate her on being awarded one of the top honours in Scouting. Chloe, part of the 8th South-West Leeds Scouting group has been awarded the Scouting Medal for Meritorious Conduct by Chief Scout, Bear Grylls.
Chloe has shown bravery, compassion and resilience in her selfless donation of stem cells from her own bone marrow to her younger sister, Summer. Diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia at a very young age, Summer underwent the treatment which at first appeared to work. However, a deterioration in her health sadly led to her passing away at the age of two.
Since the loss of Summer in 2017, Chloe and her family have valiantly campaigned to raise both funds for and awareness of Summer’s condition. Both Candlelighters and Noonan Syndrome Association have benefited from the efforts and determination of Chloe and her family.
Recognition of Chloe’s kindness and attitude by the Scouts is absolutely fantastic. We are very proud of Chloe and look forward to hearing about her trip to Windsor Castle to collect her award!
