The Gorse Games Indoor Rowing competition saw a fantastic improvement in the overall standard of rowing across the trust.  Some particularly inspired performances came from the team from The Morley Academy, who managed to drop only a few points overall.  Their Year 7 girl, Rosie Rice, pulled an outstanding 504 metres over her 2 minute distance, and The Farnley Academy’s Year 7 boy, Luke, managing an incredible 542 metres  Other notable successes came from Year 9 girls from The Morley Academy (Kadie Speak), Boston Spa Academy (McKenzie Bilicki) and The Ruth Gorse Academy (Daisy Anderson), with a very tight race resulting in some high scores over the given time of 4 minutes. Bruntcliffe Academy also had some strong performances with their Year 8 girl, Erin Thorn, winning by a significant margin. For the first time ever, we also hosted students from The Stephen Longfellow Academy at the event; a significant step forward for them.

Overall, the standard of the event was excellent. It is clear that staff and students from all the Trust academies are embracing the indoor rowing programme and are doing a fantastic job of nurturing the talent which we are lucky to have across the trust.  A promising event, which is part of a wider, and very exciting, initiative.
