I wanted to take some time to write a news story about something I care about, and in return, I hope this new exciting location will become a place that our students care about too.

As you will be aware, last year we tragically lost one of our beloved members of staff, Lewis Howlett. Lewis was an exceptional English teacher. He was talented, passionate and he made a difference to many students’ lives. His death was left a hole in all of our lives.

In order to honour him, we wanted to provide a special place in school that helped us keep him in our memory and to allow students to understand how influential he was. We have therefore designed the ‘The Howlett Library’. The library space has been redesigned and we felt it was appropriate to name the library space after our beloved colleague. Lewis was an avid reader; his Literature knowledge was exceptional and this was part of what made him such a fantastic teacher.

I am delighted to share this image with you of our new library design. I am sure you will agree that it is beautiful. The vibrant colours help to epitomise Lewis’ character and personality.

We look forward to officially opening this special space for students to use in September.
