On Thursday 12th May 2022, Miss Bate and Miss Hart took several year 7 and year 8 students on a school trip to ‘The Little Book Shop’ in Chapel Allerton. The bookshop mostly accommodates children and young adults, hosting a range of different books to suit the needs for all.
Our small group of students were gathered in a circle whilst the owner of the shop discussed the logistics of owning a bookshop and then gave students advice as to where they can find the types of books that they’re interested in. As a treat from TFA, our students then had a small budget each to purchase themselves a book of their own!
The trip was a fantastic opportunity for our students to understand the benefits of reading and gain an understanding of how best to pick a book that suits their needs. Afterall, there is no ‘right’ way of reading – you should read what you enjoy and feel comfortable with – our students had a wonderful time exploring beautiful books!
