Welcome Year 7!
All staff at the academy are pleased to welcome year 7 to the academy. Despite all the disruption year 7 students experienced last year, we are proud with how well they have settled in the Academy. They have adjusted to the school day times and routines extremely well and our older students have been fantastic guides when required when some students have needed help to remember where their classroom is!
It’s also a pleasure to see year 7 students forge new friendships and embrace the opportunities on offer, particularly after school. This week, several students applied to be House captain for their Houses, which shows that students are developing their voice and confidence to work as a team with their fellow students.
Year 7 students have already got a flavour of all the exciting rewards to come at the academy too – including stamps for their hard work in lessons and kindness stamps for showing kindness around the academy. During the Positive Discipline lesson and form time this week, it was fantastic to visit all of the forms who have been rewarded for entering House competitions (the tie tying time trial!), getting their Gorse Get Healthy stamps as well as extra curricular stamps. At summer school, all of the students received credits towards this year and will start to receive certificates in recognition for the resilience, ambition and kindness that they show every day at school. We look forward to celebrating their achievements in the coming weeks, months and years ahead as they flourish on their journey at The Farnley Academy!
Thanks,
Rachel
