On Monday 22 April it was World Earth Day!
World Earth Day is an environmental movement that brings 192 countries together to help safeguard our planet.
Our No Planet B club students are encompassing this vision and ensuring the school becomes as eco-friendly as possible. To celebrate World Earth Day they created some resources for form time which include a house quiz competition.
Every year, Earth Day is given a theme and this year it is “Planet vs Plastics”, which is intended to draw attention to the impact plastic pollution has not just on the environment but on human health too.
The UN is expected to agree a landmark treaty on plastics later this year while more than 50 countries have called for an end to plastic pollution by 2040.
Earth Day’s organisers want to go further than that, however, and have called for a 60 per cent reduction in the production of all plastics by that same year.
We also had a House World Earth Day pop-up taking place where students had to complete a quiz focussing on plastic pollution. Congratulations to our two winners who each received a soft toy!
