The History Department ran a trip to Temple Newsam House with Year 10 last week as part of the ‘History Around Us’ unit, which comprises 20% of their final exam. During the day, our students received three detailed tours of the house, which provided our students with an invaluable insight into the 500-year history of this historic local building. In addition to our tour of the Tudor remains at Temple Newsam, our students also experienced the life of domestic servants who have worked at the site, including an eerie trip into the underground cellars! The behaviour and engagement of our students was exemplary and they represented our academy impeccably. Our tour organiser and the Education Lead at Temple Newsam spoke very highly of our Year 10 students and was thoroughly impressed with their curiosity and conduct throughout the day.
