Revision

Students have been directed to completed 1 hour of revision per day. This should be in a quiet place if possible, if this is not available in the home then student can work independently at The Farnley Academy. This revision should cover the below key points.

  1. Learning key knowledge for subjects, many exams require strong recall of facts. This Knowledge need transferring to revision cards or revision books and then testing. This may include quotes for English Literature or formulae for mathematics.
  2. Practice, teachers are constantly supplying model answers to questions. These need practising, in particular in English Language where students will write a story.
  3. Learning how to answer questions. Students are family with the term examination rubric. Many exams have questions worth multiple marks, students should be aware what is required to secure each mark. If they have the knowledge and know how to structure their answer they will be very successful.

I would recommend that students spend two 30 minute sessions or three 20 minute sessions revising per day. It is very important that students do rest and have a timetable of when they will revise and when they will be doing things they enjoy.
