Year 6 Transition Day – 100% Challenge

On Thursday 5th July our new Year 7 cohort for 2018-19 had an exciting intake day. The 280 current Year 6 students had an opportunity to meet their new Form Tutors and make new friends, whilst familiarising themselves with academy life. With taster lessons and team building activities the students worked with our dedicated transition buddies and the Student Leadership Team to ensure they are all prepared for September and have all their questions answered. After a fun-filled day of science experiments and exploring their new school the students were lucky enough to experience a performance from The Farnley Academy’s Key Stage 3 Drama club, with a collection of scenes from some Roald Dahl classics.

Our new Year 7s have been left with a challenge by Ms Bradford (Assistant Principal in charge of Attendance): to attend their current primary school every day for the next two weeks. Getting their ‘loyalty card’ stamped or signed each day will earn them 100 stamps on their first day at The Farnley Academy, and also prepare them for the opportunity of becoming members of our prestigious 100% Attendance Club next year!
